This 2004 report by Will Pittz and Rinku Sen at the Applied Research Center provides an assessment into the ways foundations have supported organizations that promote justice and equity for communities of color. The first section of the report analyzes the available data on giving to communities of color and to civil rights and social action organizations. The second focuses on how varied definitions of racial justice have produced different funding emphases. The concluding section of the report sums up key observations and findings and makes recommendations to funders and donors interested in supporting efforts to promote racial equity.
