Do One Thing for Diversity and Inclusion

Posted on

May 21st is World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development, and the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC) in partnership with UNESCO is launching the world campaign “Do One Thing for Diversity and Inclusion” with the idea that even a small individual action can become a global action if we all take part in it.

This is a great opportunity for us in the field of philanthropy to think about how having greater diversity, equity and inclusion can enhance our impact on our constituencies and reflect on the actions that we could take to ensure that.

Here at D5, we understand that this work is not easy, and it is easy to get discouraged when your actions do not automatically translate into clear impact. However, we also believe that there is a growing movement in philanthropy that is committed to taking the steps to advance diversity, equity and inclusion in philanthropy and we want you to be a part of this movement!

Here are some things that you could do for diversity and inclusion today!

  • Read our State of the Work report on how philanthropy is responding to the changing demographics in America.
  • Take some of the ideas, inspirations and lessons learned from leading voices in the field, and think about how you could use them in your own organization.
  • Share some of your stories and actions you have taken to increase diversity, equity and inclusion in philanthropy.
  • Engage your trustees, grantees, or colleagues in the conversation about diversity, equity and inclusion.
